This book is sort of the flagship title of the Ahoy Comics line.
It started with an original concept and writer Tom Peyer just ran away with it. It is a fun book that just keeps on reinventing itself with each new series. This new one does it yet again and it is a pretty great first issue.
The issue opens up with Dragonflyman and his new partner, Stinger Two, fighting a bunch of bad guys.
They end up winning and this scene basically catches us up to their dynamic as characters. They are out for justice and will do everything in their power to make sure that it is meted out.
We then get to see Dragonfly going about his business on the earth that he is on.
This is a darker scene and we get to catch up with him. It is then that Dragonfly catches on to something. It may in fact be something bigger than be imagined.
That is about the point that I realized that this whole series is predicated on these characters meeting for the first time.
That’s right, Dragonflyman and Dragonfly are on a collision course towards one another. By the end of the issue, I was completely excited to see where this might be going.
This issue has a hell of a last page.
Peyer writes an amazing script with this first issue and it is just awesome. The art by Igle and Castro is perfectly suited for this book and they do a great job.
I have no idea where this is going but I cannot wait to find out!
