By far the strangest character to be introduced in the pages of Young Justice (and the Walmart Batman issues). is Jinny Hex. She is a living relative of the old gunslinger from the Wild West, Jonah Hex. She has always been rather underwritten so it is nice to see that it could be fixed for this special.
Jinny Hex has just returned from a big “multiverse in trouble” event.
She decides to take some time to reflect on her life and take some time off. Jinny also thinks that it is time to visit some old friends. So she takes it upon herself to do just that. It seems like things are going to go along pretty swimmingly.
Of course, that doesn’t last very long.
Jinny quickly finds herself up against a new enemy.
His name is Three-Eyed Jack and he does the unthinkable! He takes her town and has it transported to the Old West.
That is right, Jinny Hex is going back to her famous relative’s time period!
This leads into Jinny having to take on Three-Eyes Jack! This may prove tougher than she had thought. Apparently, Jinny might have a deeper connection to the villain than she originally had thought. This leads into some exciting and silly conflicts.
The whole thing is enjoyable and it all comes to a head at the very end.
This is a fun book that does get a little out of hand at times.
Still, Visaggio writes an enjoyable script that is entertaining throughout. The art is decent on this as well. I enjoyed this book and wouldn’t mind further adventures for this character at all.
