This issue is a tomb of some fun and wacky stories. There is a lot of inventiveness contained in this book.

The opening story is written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and it is drawn by Mikel Janin.  Johnson does a great job of taking the mythos and subverting it to something that is completely unexpected.

I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would have.

Clark Kent has disappeared and has left a real hole on the planet Earth. People are gathering in Smallville to celebrate Superman.

But where is he and what is he doing?

We find out pretty quickly and it is fairly awesome!

Superman is seen across the galaxy on Warworld! He is fighting in a gladiator type of arena in the pits of Mongul. This is a bit reminiscent of the “Planet Hulk” storyline but it is totally it’s own thing. The art by Janin is especially good here and it leaves you wanting more!

There are a few backup stories in this issue as well.

The Shilo Norman Mr. Miracle has taken a Boom Tube across the galaxy to find himself at odds with an entire planet! This is a pretty damn fine backup story and I enjoyed it very much.

There is also a Midnighter story that is decent but doesn’t really add up to much. He is searching for new energy source and it feels very boring.

There is also a Black Racer story that didn’t do much for me either.

All in all though, this was a solid book and very entertaining.
