‘Batman/Catwoman #2’ (review)

Written by Tom King
Art by Clay Mann
Published by DC Comics

I loved the first issue of this series.

The writing was some of Tom King’s best work and the artwork by Clay Mann was truly awesome. I had high hopes after reading that issue for the rest of this series.

Happily, this second issue does not disappoint and builds upon the first issue quite well.

The first two pages of this issue sort of give us an introduction to the character of Phantasm.

That’s right, the villain from the animated movie, Batman: Mask of The Phantasm has made his way to comics. He is one hell of a cool villain in this creative team’s capable hands. He is very mysterious and very threatening and I liked that very much.

Bruce is on the hunt for Andrea Beaumont’s missing child. That quest takes up a lot of the issue. But there is a lot more to it than that.

All I can say that it involves some detective work, a lot of fighting, and a very different take on the Joker. I think that covers it without spoiling anything.

We also learn that the Joker was responsible for something at the beginning of Selina’s career.

This incident still haunts her and plays into current events. It all leads towards one hell of a last page for this issue. I can’t even imagine where this comic is going but I can’t wait to find out.

The story is as strong as can be. Tom King is doing the best work of his career and it shows on every panel. Same thing goes for artist Clay Mann.

The two of them are just doing an incredible job on this book. I am looking forward to seeing where this creative team takes us from here.
