This has been a nice spinoff from the main Umbrella Academy book.
I am glad the creative team has put effort in making sure that this story is one that matters and counts. I have been enjoying this very much and this issue is another fine chapter. It may, in fact, be the best in this series.
So far, the series has focused on the character of Klaus from the Umbrella Academy. He has departed the Academy and has found himself in a hell of a lot of trouble.
The biggest threat of all in this series comes from an underground vampire club, bent on causing destruction.
This club has a goal in mind: They are going to use Klaus for their nefarious scheme. The vampires discover that they don’t really need him alive for their plans to work.
Klaus has to battle against them and try to survive.
This part is very exciting and strange.
The rest of the issue shows us that a lot is going on otherwise. The Hollywood Gods give us a revelation. They tell the secret of why Vivian Clarke was blacklisted.
When Klaus hears this, it makes him not want to trust Vivian. The drama gets ratcheted up and leads to one hell of a last page!
The story is smart and exciting. Simon and Way have done another great job here and the script really has a lot going for it . The art by Culbard is perfect for this as well. He is one of the more underrated artists out there.
All in all this is another solid issue in a damn fine series.
