Writer Grant Morrison and artist Liam Sharp have given us a Green Lantern run for the ages.
The stories are literally out of this world and the artwork has been matching it on all fronts. This is just good comic book storytelling all around and I have loved every second of it.
The Ultrawar has begun! Everything that this book has been leading to is finally coming to fruition.
Green Lantern Hal Jordan may not have a second to breathe, however. He is thrown headfirst into a battle pretty much as soon as this issue begins. It is pretty exhilarating.
We are introduced to Hal Jordan’s Earth-11 counterpart here as well.
That means that there are two Green Lanterns.
That also means that there are two Star Sapphires!
And, most importantly, that also means there is a conflict that is pretty much a battle of the sexes! Things get pretty crazy and a bit out of hand.
This is the crux of the issue.
The battle keeps getting bigger and crazier until it reaches one hell of an apex! This is the first sort of battle event of the Ultrawar. By the end of the issue it looks like it is going to get even bigger and crazier.
I would expect nothing less.
Grant Morrison is having one hell of a time finishing off writing this series. They are never one that is short on ideas and this book is truly full of them. Artist Liam Sharp does a great job on the artwork as well.
This is a solid issue in a series that is sadly ending soon.
