Yet again, Detective Comics proves itself to be the superior book featuring Batman.
The stories have all been consistently great and entertaining. This issue is no different. I am happy every time a new issue of this title comes out.
The first thing to note is that Hush is back in this issue!
That crazy villain is back to wreck havoc in Gotham and torture Batman. When we first see him, it is awesome. It is probably the most terrifying iteration of the character. That is because artist Brad Walker really nails the character artistically here.
Bruce, meanwhile, is still reeling after the events of the Joker War storyline.
He is also dealing with his son Damian Wayne being more than just a little brat. Seems like Damian has stolen the Black Casebook and Bruce has to confront him. It doesn’t go as planned.
Things get crazy.
Hush kidnaps the entire Batman family except for Bruce and Damian. To save them, the two must work together. But can they? Or is the rest of the Batman family doomed? It gets quite intense for sure.
The writing by Tomasi is great. The story has a lot of excitement but never at the expense of character. Tomasi always works best with artist Brad Walker, who again, returns here. It is a beautiful looking issue. I loved the whole thing.
