Man, the Death Metal storyline is pretty damn epic.

I am loving where we have taken on this ride so far. This is another one of the spinoff books from the main event.

This one is crazy and a lot of strange fun from start to finish.

The opening story is called “Together” and it is written by Joshua Williamson, Scott Snyder, and James Tynion IV. It is about the last days of the Titans and their final battle.

They are all old and bitter and their ending is pretty brutal. I am not sure why it took three people to write this but it is a good story with decent art by Travis Moore.

Moving on, we have the best story of the book.

It is called “Last Knights”It is wonderfully written by Jeff Lemire and features some gorgeous artwork by Rafael Albuquerque. It shows the ending of the Green Lanterns in the universe and what happens from there.

The third story is written by Mariko Tamaki and is illustrated by Daniel Sampere. It is a story about Wonder Woman. But this story, called “The Question” is really well constructed. Without revealing too much,  it also has do with another part of the DC Universe. This is well done.

Next up, we have a story about Green Arrow and the Black Canary. We get to see how the two of them end up in their tumultuous relationship. It is pretty good. It is written by Gail Simone and drawn by Meghan Hetrick, and both creators are very good at what they do.

Aquaman is the star of the next story. We get to see how Arthur comes to the end of his life. It is actually moving and well done. It is written by Christopher Sebela and drawn by Chris Mooneyham. I wish that this team would take over the monthly Aquaman comic book.

The second to last story is decent as well. It chronicles the last days of some of the Batman Family. It shows where they ended up and what all of their fates end up being. It is written by Cecil Castellucci and Illustrated by Mirka Andolfo and it is wonderful.

The last story of the book is fantastic as well. It is written by Mark Waid and drawn by Francis Manapul and it features Superman in a really great last story. It is perfect and this whole issue. This is probably the best of the spin off book from Death Metal and it is truly well done.

RATING: A
