Month in and month out, this has been a hell of a Batman book.
Honestly, Peter J. Tomasi can write Batman all day long and I would be happy. This issue in particular is very well done. I enjoyed every aspect of this.
The opening scene of this issue gives us a look at the newest villain called The Mirror. We get to see a nightmare from one of the cops who apparently betrayed his partner. Evely does a great job drawing this.
When the cop wakes up. it is pretty jolting for the reader.
Well done.
Batman takes an interest in this villain, of course.
We get to see Batman doing a bit of investigating here and it is good to see. Tomasi makes it about Batman trying to piece together just who this villain is. There are some nice twists and turns here leading up to suspenseful last page.
We also get to see Damian Wayne hiding in the shadows from the Mirror’s army. This is especially cool as there is an understated game that Damian is playing here. It is pretty awesome and only makes this issue that much more special.
Man, I love Tomasi. But I have to say that I love artist Bilquis Evely just as much. Evely gives us a fresh Batman here and it is honestly a great artistic interpretation of the character.
This is pretty damn great overall and this new creative team clicks great on this issue.
