This is a great finale to this limited series!
This book has truly been nuts from start to finish. It’s been one hell of an adrenaline ride, filled with great characters and horrific moments. This issue is a great ending to the story and is also a bridge for future tales to come.
There’s no other way to describe the beginning of this issue except to say that it is a true descent into hell.
Batman is experiencing the madness that the Batman Who Laughs has to offer. It has a brutally brilliant opening scene that doesn’t let up and doesn’t let you catch your breath.
It’s really something else.
A big part of that is because of the artwork by Jock. It’s so visceral and unique that your eyes just light up. He really is the premiere horror artist in comic books right now. His graphics are unparalleled and no other artist can do what he has done in this story.
Batman and the Batman Who Laughs face off! That is really what the issue is all about. We do get to see Commissioner Gordon suited up in his Batman outfit trying to save the city as well. But Batman’s struggle is what this issue is about. And Snyder and Jock give this particular storyline it’s due.
The ending of this book does lead into a future story. But it’s also pretty complete into itself. I don’t want to spoil it except to say that I could not see this book ending any other way. It really is a perfect wrap up.
I hope to see Snyder and Jock work together again soon. They are only getting stronger with each and every collaboration. This is their strongest work to date and I love every second of it.
