Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban) survived a catastrophic attack on the city’s police department that cost him nearly everything. Returning over a year later, he finds the transition difficult. Not only does he suffer guilt for the lethal ambush, but department policy now requires that every cop be paired with a highly evolved human-like android partner. Rejecting policy, Kennex reinstates an outdated Dorian (Michael Ealy) android — whose somewhat dysfunctional platform is based on a “Synthetic Soul” program, allowing it to have emotional responses. It’s this flawed humanity, however, that connects Dorian and John. And together, they set out to keep the city safe, uncover the criminal conspiracy that threatens to destroy their world … and find their common humanity.  From creator J.H. Wyman and producer J.J. Abrams, Almost Human also stars Minka Kelly, Mackenzie Crook, Michael Irby and Lili Taylor.

As tensions mount, it becomes clear that the outwardly idyllic Sanders clan isn’t as perfect as once thought, nor are their captors as evil as one might suspect.

Stanley: The Complete Series

Wizards and Warriors: The Complete Series

TV’s first real foray into the realm of high fantasy was a truly ahead of its time combination of awesome adventure and witty self-awareness. Prolific sitcom writer Don Reo (The John Larroquette Show, Two and a Half Men) had a different vision in mind than previous grim and gritty attempts at the genre as seen in cinema – a vision underscored by the show’s own opening titles, which frame the action as comic book panels. Jeff Conaway stars as valiant Prince Erik Greystone who, along with his strongman sidekick pal Marko (Walter Olkewicz), battles evil Prince Dirk Blackpool (Duncan Regehr) and malevolent magic-user Vector (Clive Revill) for control of the continent of Aperans and his country of Camarand. And for the hand of fair, spoiled and leather pants-obsessed Princess Ariel (Julia Duffy). Now the time has come to heed the call of adventure – and comedy!

The Jimmy Stewart Show: The Complete Series

Stewart plays Professor James Howard, an anthropologist struggling to make sense of the generation gap with his college students and just plain struggling to make sense of his own family. Jim and wife Martha are busy raising an eight-year-old, as is their twenty-nine-year-old first born, Peter (James Daly) and his wife, Wendy (Ellen Geer). And “Uncle Teddy” (Dennis Larson) is sure to demand “the proper respect” from his five-day-older nephew, Jake (Kirby Furlong). It’s a good thing Jim has a Nobel Prize-winning best friend, chemistry professor Dr. Luther Quince (John McGiver) to help make sense of the chaos, especially after a house fire forces Peter’s family to move in with Jim’s!

Beware The Batman: Shadows of Gotham Season 1 Part 1
Beware the Batman: Dark Justice, Season 1 Part 2

Another night falls in Gotham City and the ever-vigilant Dark Knight watches over his city and its citizens. With the help of his ex-secret agent butler, Alfred, and sword-wielding assassin Katana, the Batman wages a tireless war against Gotham’s twisted criminal underworld. Each disc includes 13 episodes, completing it’s only season.  It’s a crime-fighting collection of hidden clues, cool tech and detective thrills as Batman prowls in the shadows, ready to deliver action-packed excitement and justice!

In this incarnation Batman/Bruce Wayne is younger, and still learning (hinted by a brief appearance by Lieutenant Gordon on television at the end of the episode). The costume/character design of the character seems to combine a look reminiscent of the character’s original design from Detective #27 with a more latex/rubbery texture. This also marks one of the first times that the writers have embraced Batman’s talents as a detective which is a refreshing and fantastic change from previous interpretations.

Alfred Pennyworth is less the quiet, reserved butler and more MI-6 badass in this incarnation. With a shaved head, and a gravelly voice similar to Jason Statham, this Alfred is a bit more proactive in The Batman’s war on crime, testing and rating Bruce on his fighting techniques. He is also responsible for hiring Tatsu Yamashiro, another DC crimefighter known as Katana.

Finally, the rogues were a refreshing change from the atypical Bat-nemeses. These episodes included such characters as Professor Pyg, Mister Toad, Junkyard Dog, Magpie, Anarky, Lady Shiva, Silver Monkey, Humpty Dumpty, Tobias Whale, Killer Croc, Man-Bat, Deathstroke and Ra’s al Ghul and appearances by other established DC characters include Barbara Gordon, Manhunter, Harvey Dent and Metamorpho.

The series is fast paced, well written and thoroughly entertaining and a must see for every Bat-fan.

Batman: Brave and the Bold: The Complete First Season
Batman: Brave and the Bold: The Complete Second Season

Perhaps the best interpretation of the character in any medium, Batman The Brave & The Bold is an absolute joy to watch. Unlike the groundbreaking Batman The Animated Series, Batman The Brave & The Bold is aimed at a younger audience, but captures the magic of why superheroes are fun better than anything else (including comics) in the past thirty years.

Featuring nonstop adventure with a touch of comic relief, this series focuses on the Caped Crusader teaming up with heroes from across the DC Universe.

This series has Batman teaming up with such iconic and obscure characters as Blue Beetle, Green Arrow, Plastic Man, Fire,Ice, Martian Manhunter, Atom, Aquaman, Guy Gardner, The Demon, Red Tornado, Wildcat, Black Lightning, Katana, Metamorpho, B’wana Beast, Kamandi, Deadman, Elongated Man, Doctor Fate, G’nort, Mogo The Living Planet, Jonah Hex, Bronze Tiger, Owlman, The Joker, The Question, Adam Strange, Golden Age Flash, Sherlock Holmes, Black Canary, Huntress, Booster Gold, Robin, Ace the Bat-Hound, Bat-Mite, Mister Miracle, Big Barda, Hawk and Dove, OMAC, Two-Face, Challengers of the Unknown, Captain Marvel, Enemy Ace, Detective Chimp,  Doctor Mid-Nite, Hawkman, Hourman, Metal Men, Firestorm, Teen Titans, the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh, Zatanna, The Spectre, The Phantom Stranger, Vixen, Geo-Force, Halo, Kid Flash, Batgirl, The Doom Patrol, Black Orchid, Haunted Tank, Ted Kord, Batwoman, Nightwing, Sgt. Rock, G.I. Robot, Star Girl, The Freedom Fighters, Scooby-Doo, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel Jr.

Evoking not only the Adam West series of the 1960s, but also the humor of the Dick Sprang/Charlie Paris era comics,  Batman: The Brave and The Bold has essentially become the finest interpretation of the character ever presented.

Deidrich Bader plays the Caped Crusader with his tongue planted firmly in cheek, combining the delivery of the iconic interpretations of Adam West and Kevin Conroy. Other notable contributing voice artists include John DiMaggio, Will Friedle, Michael Dorn, R. Lee Ermey, Ioan Gruffudd, Mark Hamill, Neil Patrick Harris Mae Whitman, Frank Welker, Tara Strong, Tyler James Williams, Adam West, Wil Weaton, Alan Tudyk, Kevin Conroy, Morean Baccarin, Clancy Brown,  Neil Patrick Harris, Phil Morris, James Remar, Paul Reubens, and Tom Everett Scott. Producers James Tucker and Michael Jelenic have created what might very well be my favorite Batman series of all time

Shirt Tales: The Complete Series

Meet Pammy Panda, Tyg Tiger, Rick Raccoon, Digger Mole, and Bogey Orangutan – they’re cute, they’re furry and they have a secret. Whenever the purple mushroom by the tree they call home starts to flash they swing into action as the crime-sleuthing squad called the Shirt Tales. Racing to their secret lair hidden underneath the tree (and under the nose of Park Ranger Mr. Dinkle), they answer the Shirt Tale Alert from the Commissioner who clues them in on the current crime via holo-phone. Then it’s off to their shape-changing supersonic craft where they use their wiles and their fantastic gadgets to solve the mystery and nab the bad guys. These message-wearing T-shirted critters started out as adorable (and adored) greeting card characters but it took the genius of Hanna-Barbara to take the cute and mix-it up with a blend of Batman and Scooby-Doo to create a fan-and family classic. 46-episode, complete series collection.

Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines

Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines traces the fascinating birth, evolution, and legacy of Wonder Woman, and introduces audiences to a dynamic group of fictional and real-life superheroines fighting for positive role models for girls, both on screen and off.

Female superheroes, warrior princesses, and other icons of women’s empowerment in pop culture owe their existence to Wonder Woman — the unlikely brainchild of a Harvard-trained pop psychologist. From Wonder Woman’s original, radical World War II presence, to her uninspiring 1960s incarnation as a fashion boutique owner, to her dramatic resurrection by feminist Gloria Steinem and the women of Ms. Magazine, Wonder Woman’s legacy continues today.

Wonder Women! explores the nation’s long-term love affair with comic book superheroes and raises questions about the possibilities and contradictions of heroines within the genre. The film goes behind the scenes with Lynda Carter, Lindsay Wagner, Gloria Steinem, Kathleen Hanna, comic writers and artists, and others who offer an enlightening and entertaining counterpoint to the male-dominated superhero genre.

Exploring how our highly visual culture places more emphasis on the appearance of girls and women rather than on their deeds, Wonder Women! urges women to claim the action genre — and media in general — as their own, if they want to change how they are represented. Wonder Women! harnesses the voices of literary critics, women writers, classicists, philosophers, impersonators, collectors, feminists and fanatics to explore the notions of “heroism” and “power.”
